Sorry guys... The forums are back, but still no upgrades. Not sure whats going on, I'll try and keep you all posted. In the mean time, check the forums for the latest info, or contact me by email if they go down again or anthing. Thanks for sticking with us.

Because as I always say, "its good to share", unless its B&J's Phish Food, in which case bugger off its mine, with its little fishies and stuff... Nomnommomonmoommm... Erm... Where was I? The DevBlog has been updated and is now live. Expect more updates over time guys on the development of OverDose, how we make it, and general chit chat on what we learn so that YOU don't fall into the same problems we did. Remember, anything and everything can be talked about, so please feel free to use the forums to discuss anything you like.

High FIVE! - Hands Complete

Well, this was interesting. I finished the hands... At last, eh? Shown here is the white hands in jungle, temperate and desert camo. We also have a darker skin tone for players to select if they wish (Seen in the previous screenshot of the hands):

Next update... Animation movies. Stay tuned guys, because the chicken is about to eat the shoe.

I've uploaded a few new technology shots for you from our SDK maps. Keep in mind these are just a few of the advanced features that are available of the OverDose engine. They are, in order left to right; "Doom 3 Style Flares With Bloom", "Sky Portals", "Terrain Blending + Alpha To Coverage Foliage With Wind Simulation" and "Real Time Water Reflection/Refraction + Edge Fading":

Site Changes

You can probably tell that I've done some new site changes to the OverDose website. Just a little spring-cleaning, nothing too amazing. The "About" section has been re-created with the latest up to date information on the project, instead of having a lot of useless info that was out of date. The media section has changed format slightly to include better browsing. The most important change here is the new "DevBlog" section which is mainly there for developers to post the latest information on the project, what they are up to, and how they do it. It should provide a nice insight into the world of OverDose and how it is created.

As always, feedback and thoughts are always welcome, so head over to the forums and register now to help shape OverDose's future.

 


Grenades - Complete

Just finished up the grenades. Not much else to say really, they are grenades! How much info do you need on pineapples these days? To cook the grenade simply hold the red button on the top, serve with a little chicken, and you have a perfect gib sandwich:

 


Hands Progress

Still going with the hands. Its taking a little longer than normal becaue one of our guys PC's went down, so... You know how it is. The site will have a change soon with a few new sections, and more concrete details. As always keep an eye on the forums for the latest media, but for now heres a progress shot on the black and white hands textures:

 


O37 - Complete

Well, the O37 is finished. Yeah, our first weapon model is 100% done. Like the combat knife, only minor changes will be made for this one, as we are moving onto the Pistol, grenades and other stuff now. Enjoy:

 


Combat Knife - Complete

Ok, while the O37 is being finished off, I decided to start on the Knife this afternoon. Well, after a fantastic quick effort from Mo, he made me a low and high poly model for the Combat knife, and I textured her.

Here she is, the Combat Knife. A melee weapon, for when you act like a retard and run your weapon dry. Comes in 2 flavours, a classic swipe action, or press the "function" key and he will hold the blade, ready to throw (complete with sticking in walls action). Not sure how many "knives" you will get as yet, possibly 5, with the last one reserved (i.e. you cant throw it).

Anyway, enjoy. All comments welcome, but this models done, so we are moving on with other things:
